West Texas Gifts of Hope offers several services to assist people in their fight against cancer.

Hope House

Hope house is one of the services provided by West Texas Gifts of Hope (WTGOH).  Qualified cancer patients being treated at WTCC who reside outside the city limits of Odessa are able to stay at Hope House free of charge during their cancer treatments. The house provides four bedrooms with private bathrooms, a common kitchen, dining room and living area as well as laundry facilities.

Guidelines:

  • The preferred patient must be recommended by the WTCC oncologists.
  • Patients typically live out of Odessa city limits and have no other lodging opportunities with relatives or friends.

Look Good Feel Good Shop

The LGFG shop is located in the WTCC at 301 North Washington and is organized and supported by WTGOH. The shop provides shampoos, haircuts, wigs caps, scarves, turbans and cosmetology consultations are available before, during and after cancer treatment.

Guidelines:

  • The patient must be receiving treatment at WTCC or be approved by WTGOH.

Other Services

Durable Medical Equipment & Ostomy Supply Assistance

Our durable medical equipment and ostomy supply assistance is setup to assist with the patient’s cost of equipment/supplies needed for the continuation of treatment or well-being such as oxygen, wheelchair, prosthesis, or ostomy supplies.

Guidelines:

  • Patient  must be referred by WTCC.
  • Patient must be a resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • The patient’s medical needs must be prescribed by a WTCC physician/surgeon, oncology stagg or nurse navigator.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.

Patient Prescription Assistance

In some circumstances WTGOH can provide assistance with pharmaceutical or medical needs of cancer patients.

Guidelines:

  • Patient must be referred by WTCC.
  • Medical needs must be prescribed by WTCC physician/surgeon, oncology staff, nurse navigator.
  • Patient must be a legal resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.

Transportation Assistance

WTGOH may be able to provide transportation for cancer patients who cannot facilitate their own transportation or pay for the cost of reliable transport.  Assistance is offered to local or out-of-Odessa patients who reside in the Permian Basin.

Guidelines:

  • Patient must be referred by WTCC.
  • Patient must be a legal resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.
  • Services may include one or a combination of the following: Taxi service, EZ Rider Paratransit service, EZ rider bus pass, TRAX (West Texas Opportunities, Inc.) transport referral, or American Cancer Society transport referral.

Lodging

WTGOH my be able to coordinate free lodging for out-of-town patients receiving cancer treatment in Midland/Odessa. In the event of patient overflow, local partnership hotels/hostels will be utilized.

Guidelines:

  • Patient  must be referred by WTCC.
  • Patients typically resides outside Midland/Odessa city limits and have no other lodging options.
  • Patient must be a resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • Patient must present a valid photo ID and must agree to a Criminal History Background Check.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.

Gas Cards

Gas cards for cancer patients from Permian Basin counties who must travel to receive treatment are available. Card amount varies but is commonly $25- $50.

Guidelines:

  • Patient must be referred by WTCC.
  • The patient’s travel is ONLY for cancer treatment at WTCC or by special approval from 
WTGOH for other travel.
  • Patient must be a legal resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.

Dental Assistance

WTGOH can help with cost of dental exams or procedures needed for continuation of treatment or well-being of cancer patients.

Guidelines:

  • Dental needs must be a condition that directly affects the prescription for cancer treatment.
  • Medical needs must be prescribed by WTCC physician/surgeon, oncology staff,  or nurse navigator.
  • Patient must be a legal resident or a documented immigrant living in the Permian Basin.
  • Request must be coordinated between WTCC and WTGOH.
